Nightly Showers

Wednesday began the day with sunshine but clouds moved in followed by northward-moving showers during the afternoon. Temperatures warmed to around 50F to the low 50s south and mid 50s elsewhere.

Wednesday night, as a low pressure system in northeast Missouri spins an occluded front into West Michigan, more showers will cover the area. Up to a quarter inch is possible. Temperatures will dip into the mid 40s. Winds will turn from the east-southeast to the south at 5-1 mph inland and 6-12 mph along the lakeshore.

Thursday, as the low pressure system moves to the Mackinac Straits - taking the occluded front east, showers will end over the northern counties with overcast skies elsewhere the rest of the day. A few late-afternoon showers may return along and north of I-94. Temperatures will go up a few degrees into the upper 40s and then hold steady and fall into the low to mid 40s by late afternoon. Winds will be southwest-west at 6-12 mph inland and southwest at 7-14 mph along the lakeshore.

Thursday night, some wrap-around, instability showers will develop across the region with a tenth of an inch or less expected. Temperatures will tail off into the upper 30s. Winds will be west-southwest at 5-10 mph inland and increase to 8-16 mph along the lakeshore.

Friday will feature a few morning showers followed by mostly cloudy skies the rest of the day. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 40s. Winds will be brisk from the west at 8-16 mph inland and 10-18 mph along the lakeshore.

Saturday will be mostly sunny and milder with temperatures reaching the low 50s. Winds will be southwest-west at 5-10 mph inland and west at 5-10 mph along the lakeshore.

Sunday will also be mostly sunny and mild with temperatures in the low to mid 50s. Winds will be south-southeast.

Monday will be partly sunny and mild with temperatures around 50°. Winds will be south-southwest.

Tuesday, a slow-moving cold front will become stationary over Lower Michigan bringing clouds and showers to the area. Temperatures will be in the upper 40s.

Wednesday will feature mostly cloudy skies with temperatures in the mid 40s.

The first opportunity for measurable snow may not occur until December 2-3, 2009.

The 6-10 Day Outlook for Tuesday, November 24 through Saturday, November 28 calls for near average temperatures and near average precipitation. Average highs are around 40-42° with average precipitation of .55" and average snowfall of 1.3".

The 8-14 Day Outlook for Thursday, November 26 through Wednesday, December 2 calls for near average temperatures and near average precipitation. Average highs are around 38-41° with average precipitation of 0.76" and average snowfall of 2.5".
